   要:The insatiable global demand for data is driving the critical need for faster, more energy-efficient, and scalable optical communication networks. Indium Phosphide (InP) is the cornerstone material for addressing this challenge, as it uniquely enables the integration of key active photonic components—such as lasers, amplifiers, and modulators—onto a single chip. This integration into Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) is essential for miniaturizing complex systems, boosting performance, and reducing costs. SMART PHONICS, a pure-play InP foundry established in 2012 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, is at the forefront of this revolution. The company provides Process Design Kit (PDK)-based manufacturing solutions tailored for the data and telecommunications markets. This presentation will introduce SMART PHONICS's PDK offerings and highlight its unique platform capabilities, showcasing how its technology provides practical solutions to industry challenges in energy efficiency, system integration, and scalable deployment.

报告人简介:

Mohamad Dernaika received his PhD from the Integrated Photonics Group at the Tyndall National Institute in Ireland. He began his industry career as a Senior Photonic Staff Engineer at Rockley Photonics, specializing in indium phosphide (InP) technologies. He subsequently joined Sicoya Photonics in Berlin as a Senior Photonics Engineer, further advancing his expertise in photonic semiconductor development. Dr. Dernaika is currently a Senior R&D Scientist at SMART Photonics in the Netherlands, where he contributes to the development of innovative photonic integrated circuit technologies.
